I purchased this RX7 on 10/14/2016 from a seller in Lake Orion. 145K miles on the clock.
Black Exterior, Blue Interior.
Pre-installed Modifications being an electric fan, battery relocation, and 17" Konig mesh wheels.

This is my second RX7/FC. My first RX7 was a Red exterior/Red Leather 1986 GXL. I regrettably sold it more than a decade ago with 212k miles on it, still running, original engine, keg never cracked open.

Actually looks really nice! Black has always been my favorite S5 color, those wheels look good on it too. I remember seeing pictures of your old GXL, really love the stock look. What are the plans? Any updates or upgrades on the immediate schedule?

I've been tearing it down since i got it. There is some janky stuff going on, and i dont do things half-assed. I havent even drove it except the couple miles from lake Orion to my house in Auburn Hills by Great Lakes Crossing.

I removed the moonroof completely, due to finding that it was thoroughly rusted out. Found that the drain was clogged in the corner that it was rusted out from. Not surprised that was the culprit, considering the drains for the hatch, which are in plain effing sight, were 100% clogged also.

The car was fitted with a VERY poorly wired aftermarket keyless entry/alarm system. I went through that mess of wires and removed it all also.

I already removed the entire exhaust from Housings to Tips... well, not the tips, they had rusted off from the stock mufflers and had fallen off at some point in time. I removed the air pump as well. I have block off plates coming from Racing Beat along with a shiny new Stainless Header.
There is an exhaust return tube that was connected to the second cat, which i assume is the EGR system. I traced it back to the back of the intake manifold on the 'drivers right' side of the engine bay, i have yet to deal with that, but i did order the EGR blockoff plate also, if that is where it ends up going.

I had picked up an unidentified, but presumed to be Corksport, cat back exhaust from a local-ish rotary drift guy, Mike Barbosa, a few years ago and it's been sitting in my basement, so that will finish off the remainder of the exhaust.

great pics, I would love to get that license plate from you if you don't want it.  Also I moved the topic to be in with the rest of the builds.  Keep it up.  We love seeing the progress.

An RX-7 is like having a slut as a gf! She will love you, but she will also screw around with the guy at the parts store, most of the local cops, your insurance agent, your apex seals, your bank account and your credit card!!!

I like pictures! Good to see you've already started the work, that's what winters are for right? It's definitely got a lot of little things here and there that need attention, but I've seen worse. I still think that's a great deal!

Also noticed the alternator upgrade, always a welcomed upgrade.

Thanks! Yeah it is a bit of a basket case... the worst thing was that the Brake Baster Cylinder was being secured with zip ties, which fell off on their own while i was removing the Master Cylinder. Second worst was the terrible wiring for the aftermarket keyless entry, but that's also gone now.
