My understanding is that the ionized material is the back crap that forms on the outside. I cleaned that off in the sink but didn't do anything special.

So when i think about a tuned port injection engine this is what I imagine.


I put together our mock up engine and this is what we have going on lol!

With the mock engine put together, I started looking at how the engine could fit in the car.

As you can see the Tuned Port Injection setup (TPI)  (TOP) with its height and setback doesn't lend itself to being pushed back under the dash.
The Throttle Body Injection (TBI) (MIDDLE) and the Quadrajet Carb manifold sit back about the same.

Allowable setbacks are as follows:
TPI: 2"
TBI: 7"
Carb: 7"

I also stuck some pretty low profile, log style exhaust manifolds on the engine and it measures 24" wide.

The yellow marks show where the firewall would need to be cut to leave room for the engine.  The outboard most marks give 26" of space.

Tonight Marcus and I put the engine and trans in place. There is no need to cut the firewall.  He should be posting pics soon.  We now need to get an oil pan and engine and transmission mounts so we can build the engine and trans brackets.

Dondo and I are both kinda out of commission for a while I'm afraid.  I ordered new front calipers.  I'll have to send the remains of the originals back in for an $80 core refund, if they accept them.  I swear they had been sitting at the bottom of the ocean.

I hope you guys feel better soon.  Thanks for ordering new calipers.  I talked to a guy about brake wear and tire wear and he said that both last an entire race on his RX7.  With that said,  I think we should stick with the stock brake setup to start out at least. If everyone agrees to stick to the stock calipers for now, then we just need to order a set of EBC Yellow Stuff brake pads for an 87 RX7 Turbo II to finish the brakes.

OK.  I'll still go over the real calipers to make sure they're working the best they can.  I put silicone fluid in both my old Buicks, mostly for corrosion reasons.  The big downside of it is that it is very expensive, and isn't just carried at any old store.  I'm thinking that since we're likely to be going through brake fluid fast enough than DOT3/4 isn't going to have enough time to get saturated with water anyway, so it should perform just fine for us.

I started figuring out the engine mount setup for the car.  Today I drew the adapters to move the engine mounts back.  I sent the drawings to Don and he's going to see about getting them cut out on a laser.

I use MOTUL 600 in my FD, what are you recommending to use?

Also, I modified a stock distributor so that it will plug the hole and still drive the oil pump off the camshaft.

He had a bunch of questions like what was the year of the block? I'm not a TPI guy, but he has a bunch of parts (couple short blocks too) from his old transmarobird.  He was asking about the valve covers, intake, etc.  Some year engines are better than others, etc.

The engine is older, like from the 70s but it is a 4 bolt main. The valve covers are perimeter style. The intake must be an older one since it has the extra injector.
